Bad Journalism Extra Credit
NBC news anchor Brian Williams lied on-air about what happened while he was riding a helicopter Iraq. He claimed the helicopter was being shot at – it wasn’t – and blamed his “misremembering” on the stress of being in Iraq. Williams was suspended for six months without pay and viewers began questioning what other stories he may have embellished on. Besides fans, Williams lost his credibility.

“Spotlight” Extra Credit
Besides being a great movie, “Spotlight” provided a great insight to the world of investigative journalism. The journalists essentially put their lives on hold and dedicated all their time to uncovering the truth behind the Catholic church molestation cover-ups. All four of the journalists became so emotionally invested that the story was having a deeper mental impact on their own lives too. One man posted a warning on the fridge for his kids after discovering a priest was living in his neighborhood. The woman stopped going to church with her grandmother. Another man became enraged that it was too soon to publish anything after finding the evidence they needed.
